Constitution 

• Tall, slender, dark hair, dark complexion (c.p.), dry.

Guiding Symptoms + keynotes 

1.  A/F : Anger, Chagrin, Mortification, When The Days are hot & Nights Are Cold, After Taking cold Or Getting Hot In Summer, Suppression of Discharges & Skin Eruptions
2. All Complaints Are Aggravated By Motion & Ameliorated By Absolute Rest And Pressure.
3. Excessive Dryness of All Mucus Membranes Of Body From Mouth To Anus. Which produces knotty stool, dry spasmodic cough, stitching pain. 
4. Thirst : Great Thirst For Large Quantity Of Cold Water At Long Intervals.
5. Breasts Are Heavy, Stony Hardness Of Breast, Must Support Them To Prevent The Least Motion. 
6. Vicarious Menstruation; Nose Bleeds When Menses Should Appear.

Mind

• Patient Is Very Irritable & Ill-humoured, Pt Inclined To Be Angry.
• Delirium : Talks Constantly About His Business, Desire to Get Out Of Bed & Go Home Although He Is At Home. 

Headache

• A/F : Draught Of Cold Air, Constipation.
• Location : frontal sinus, frontal to the occiput.
• Sensation : as if hit by a hammer from within. 
• Character : bursting, Splitting Type Of Pain In Morning After Rising Or When First Opening The Eyes.
• Worse from motion, stooping.

Respiratory

• Nose Bleeds When Menses should Appear, Dryness of Nose.
• With Frequent Sneezing & Loss of smell.
• Cough : Dry, Spasmodic with Gagging & Vomiting.
• Right Side of Chest Is Involved. 
• Pneumonia: in Early Stage Of Pneumonia.
• Location :Lower Lobe Of Right Lung.
• Stitching Pain In Chest, Pt holds The Chest While Coughing. 

GIT 

• Mouth : great Dryness of Mouth With Great thirst of Large Quantity of Cold water at long Intervals.
• Stomach : Pressure At Pit Of Stomach as if Stone Is Lying There. Dyspepsia With soreness Of Stomach.
• All complains relieved by pressure, except G.I.
• Constipation : No Inclination or Desire For Stool.
• Stool : Dry, Hard, Knotty As If Burnt. 
• Diarrhoea: After Taking Cold Foods & Drinks, Morning Diarrhoea, Acrid With Soreness of Anus.

Fever+

• A/F : After Taking Cold In Hot Summer Weather, Draught of Cold Air. 
• Typhoid Fever, Onset Of Fever Is Slow & Insidious.
• During Fever : Low Muttering Delirium, Pt Talks About His Daily Business.
• Dry White Coating Of Tongue with great Thirst For Large Quantity Of Cold water at long Intervals.
• Pulse is Full, Hard, Tense with quick. Profuse Perspiration.
• Associate with dry spasmodic cough, with stitching pain in the chest. 

Extremities/Rheumatism 

• A/F : when days are hot and nights are cold, anger. 
• Right sided pain with Constant Motion of Left Arm & Left Leg.
• Pain : stitching, tearing pain. 
• Stiffness with pain in Knee joint. 
• Hot swelling of feet and joint.
• Worse from motion, better by lying on painful side / compression. 
• Painful Stiffness in nape of neck, stitches and stiffness in small of the back. 

Female

• 5th and 6th point of guidings. 

Modalities

• Aggravation: Slightest Motion, Exertion, Warmth, Warm Food or Drinks, Suppressed Discharges.
• Amelioration : Complete Rest & Pressure on Painful Side, Cold, Eating Cold Food & Drinks. 

Doctrine of signature

• Bryonia is prepared from the root. Root is fleshy, yellowish-white in colour, rough, acidic and has a bitter taste. Odour is nauseating. 
• Bryonia patient also to some extent is fleshy, has a yellowish-white coated tongue with a rough irritating temperament. The patient has a bitter taste in the mouth.
